  2. Have you ever wondered where the tradition of exchanging wedding bands comes from? There isn’t a definite record of when the exchange first started but the first recorded history of it was about 4800 years ago in Egypt. These rings were made out of rushes, reeds and sedges which were twisted together and then braided into a circle.

In the early Christian tradition the reason given in the ring finger being used is that the wedding officiator would recite during the bonding “In the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” He then would touch the thumb, the index finger, and the middle finger, utter amen and the ring would be placed on the ring finger; this then sealed the marriage.
