  3. Keeping in touch with the global needs.. U.G. B.Sc (Hons) Geology: Revised syllabus (6 Semester) July 2010 Bachelor with Honours in Geology (FYUP 8 Semester) syllabus Commenced from March 2013 P.G. M.Sc. Geology: Revised syllabus (4 Semester) since July 2009 M.Sc. Integrated Earth Sciences: 5 year integrated course (10 Semester) July 2010 Ph.D. : New course work (2/2 papers) started from 2011 No. of Ph.D & MPhil students registered at present: 73

Technology access in the classroom • Teaching through interactive smart board • Installation of presentation projection facility in each classroom • Computer with internet facility in all class rooms • Charts and relief maps in all class rooms. Computer acquaintance of students: 100% Recently, The Department is identified by American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) as a nodal Department in India to open student chapter.

Research and Infrastructure Building Ongoing projects in last 3 years: 29 (Rs. 7.2 Crores) Completed projects : 9 (Rs. 2.53 Crores) Training & workshops: 7 FIST-II DST 5 Crores in 2011-2016 CAS-II UGC 1.46 Crores 2011-2016 The Department is also awarded with Recent (total) – 16.19 crore SAP I, II and III : 133 lakhs COSIST : 51 lakhs FIST I : 200 lakhs CAS-UGC Phase I (2006-2011) :90 Lakhs Past (total) – 474 lakh

Achievements 1970’s: Establishment of Geological Museum and 1st X-Ray Diffractometer (XRD) 1980’s: Department started using computers for solving numerical/logical problems in geology Late 1990’s: 1st fully equipped computer laboratory with LAN connection on Windows NT platform and server was established 2011:e-Governance implementation lead to saving of paper cost by over Rs. 1 lakh 2013-14:Geology Department became the 1st department in North Campus to have interactive whiteboards for teaching and presentation. The present Director of Geological Survey of India (GSI) is an alumni of our department Presently 6 Deputy Director Generals in GSI are alumni of our Department Started a AAPG student chapter for Delhi University in year 2013 An annual geological cultural festival “Conglomerate” started in year 2012 Antardhvani 2013 – bagged the 3rd prize for ‘Awards for Good Practices
