  2. Setting of The Story • The setting of the story is at a garden. It is day time. It is fall.

  3. Main Characters Old Man Turnip

  4. Plot or Problems • They can’t pull up the turnip. It is too heavy.. It is very big! Even when the old woman helps they can’t pull it up. When the granddaughter helps it won’t come up. Even when the black dog helps they can’t pull it up.

  5. Personality of the Main Character • The main character is the turnip. He/she is tasty. In him/she there is vitamin D. He/she is a vegetable.

  6. Personality of the Main Character • The main character is the old man. He likes to work in a garden. He doesn’t like to play with toys. He is nice , and friendly.

  7. Author’s Purpose or the lesson of the story Never give up. Don’t say I can’t do it. Try and try again.

  8. What Questions would you ask one of the Characters? • I would ask the old man what is your name? I would ask the old woman do you like gardening? I would ask the granddaughter what is your favorite color?

  9. Write a Different ending to the Story • They couldn’t pull up the turnip. The old women started to cry. She wanted to make a soup with the turnip. Then one day the turnip, came up by it self. Then they did a dance. They were happy that the old woman made the soup. The End
