Turning coins Year 5 Aim: Investigate how many two pence coins can be turned over in 10 seconds. Objective: To have an opportunity to develop data handling skills by collecting data and handling it simply.
Turning coins Place ten 2 pence coins in a row along the edge of a table, with approximately a finger’s space between them.
Turning coins Work in a group of 2 or 3, one timing the 10 seconds, one recording the number of turns and one turning.
Turning coins Turn the coins over one by one, with only one hand; the writing hand to begin with. Make sure you go back to the beginning of the row after turning ten coins, and don’t work your way back.
