First Case You are the director of neuro- rehabilitation services (PT,OT, SLP) at University Hospital, with programs serving both children and adults. Dr. Levine, a renowned neurologist, is being recruited to join the University Hospital medical staff. As part of his negotiations, he has requested the formation of a gait lab, complete with a treadmill training program (both total and partial weight bearing), to which he can refer his patients. Within this program, he wants the option to use electrical stimulation when appropriate.
Problem One Continued The hospital administrator requests a written proposal from you that will outline the feasibility of providing this new product line. As part of this proposal, he requests a detailed plan for implementation including, (but not limited to): 1. Definition of the appropriate patient populations to be served based on review of the evidence 2. Design of the specific protocols for the implementation of treadmill training and electrical stimulation including the equipment needed, and specific parameters for frequency, duration, outcome measures, etc
Problem One Conclusion 3. Procedures for securing referrals, consent for treatment, documentation of progress, monitoring of cardiovascular status, emergency procedures, etc. 4. Proposed budget for the initial start up of the program The administrator requests that you prepare a formal presentation (with PowerPoint) for Dr. Levine on January 23rd when he is scheduled to return for a final negotiation meeting.
Problem One Assignment • Submit written proposal such as you would submit for grant funding of such a program • Exhaustive and inclusive • 28 parameters to consider when designing product line • Do not design physical space • Formal Presentation (15-20 mins) on Monday January 23rd highlighting your plan. • Written Proposal due to Connie by 2PM on the 23rd.
