6th Grade Reading Schedule • 7:35-7:48Rise & Shine/ GE Time • 7:51-9:24 First Block Pds. 1 &2 • 9:27-11Conference & AI Tutoring • 11:03-12:36 Pds. 5 & 6 • 12:39-1:09 Lunch • 1:12-2:45 Pds. 7 & 8
Pre-AP • - Pre AP -Academically advanced curriculum which is built on the core curriculum • -Incorporates reading and writing encouraging rigor and higher level thinking skills • -Developed to prepare students for AP • coursework and PSAT and SAT testing • -Pre AP students are self motivated learners! ---My students are expected to read 20-30 minutes each night Monday to Fridayand keep up with their online reading logs.
Reading/Writing • Workshop Schedule • Reading Workshop- 90 minutes each day • Warm up- critical thinking question • Mini-lesson • Independent reading & writing (small groups, conferencing) • Read aloud with accountable talk • Close/share • **Library every Wednesday! Students are expected to read and take AR tests. It should not take longer than 2 weeks to finish a book. Rewards are given each 9 weeks for AR reading.
Grading • 60% major grades • 40% daily grades • Late Work Policy: Test Make Ups: • -10/day ~ Corrections up to a 70
What If My Child Needs Extra Help? Tutorials Tuesday and Thursday after school • Late bus at 4:30, starting in October • Students come with specific assignment / question or teacher invites • Email for extra practice and resources
Chromebooks • Being a 1:1 campus is awesome! • Expectations: • Students use in class when directed • Students return to homeroom class and plug in each day to charge

Homework • Read 30 minutes a night • Wednesday folders- please return empty on Thursday! • Students are expected to record the daily agenda and HW in planners Make-up Work • Student sees teacher upon return • Email beforehand if you know of an upcoming absence
