Why are they different?!? • Resources were different in various parts of the Islands. • In certain locations, certain Finches with a specific variation were at a bigger “advantage” • These Finches won the “struggle for existence” and those without the advantage died off. • Overtime, only those with the advantage were left. This accounts for the differences in various parts of the Islands.
Discovery of Genes • Genetic research began soon after Darwin’s “Origin of the Species” was published. • Comparisons of DNA and proteins of different species indicate the degree to which those species are related.
