Objectives • Provide common infrastructure and view for managing multiple types of VPNs at Layer 1, 2, and 3 • To lay out the building blocks and how they are inter-related without defining the details of each building block • Keeping concepts at the architectural level: • No selection of specific approach • No selection of protocols • Terminology: The focus is not on OAM(aintenance)

Task Force Road Map • Analyse different versions of L1, L2, L3 VPNs (existing work in WP1) • Definitions • Provisioning issues • Management issues • Requirements and evaluation (scalability, management effort, security etc.) • Identify open issues • Implementation requirements • VPNs are closely related to NOBEL network scenarios and GMPLS/ ASON use cases
