Credits • What is a credit? • How are credits earned? • How do credits impact advancing to the next grade and graduation?
Credits Needed • To enter 10th grade • To enter 11th grade • To enter 12th grade • Graduate • 6 • 13 • 20 • 28
Attendance • It’s the LAW! • Failure to attend school on a regular basis may result in loss of credit and court action. • Math Department • Lose two points on your homework average for every class you are absent from.
Schedule/Classes • Eighth grade classes are 66 minutes in length. • High school classes are 84 minutes in length. • You have three classes from Aug-Jan and then you have three different classes from Jan-June. • Additionally, you have two classes that meet every other day, but they meet all year.
Schedule/Classes • You will have: • English • Environmental Science • Health/PE and Writing Skills Workshop (.50 credits each) • World History/Government • Math Semester 1 • Math Semester 2 • Elective (Special) • Elective (Special)
Schedule/Classes • A and D blocks rotate. • There are two B block classes and they alternate daily. • C block class does not change.
Grade Point Average • Each letter grade has a numerical value assigned to it from 0 to 4.3 (Honors and Advanced Placement Classes are weighted from 0 to 5.4). • Honor Roll/High Honors • Class Rank • College Acceptance • Scholarships • Sports
Lunches • There are two different lunches. • Lunches are either at the start of your C-block class (third period) or at the end of your C-block class. • Lunches are mixed with students from grades 9-12.
In the Morning • Students enter through the main entrance. • Must be in homeroom by 8:00 a.m.
