Station Assistance Visits • These Station Assistance Visits are important, as they are one of the three times a station may be visited a year. • They may be initiated by the station of by the office / managers.
Station Assistance Visits • Station Assistance Visits are requested selecting the “ARTE Visit” under Request Forms on the SAR Management System.
Sign Offs • Please remember that ARTE may sign off ARTE items ONLY at stations other than their own, so as to to allow independent oversight of standards.
Sign Offs at Advanced Crew • All ARTE sign off items at Advanced Crew Level are automatically signed off on completion of RHIOT. • This is under review, as more Coxswains get all their Coxswain Levels signed off.
PreRHIOTs • Much of the previous work undertaken by ARTE was pre RHIOTs. • This is now carried out by the CCGA-P Training Officers, which has resulted in a consistent standard and excellent pass rate.
PreRHIOTs • However there may be occasion when ARTE will be requested to carry out a pre-RHIOT. • The office will provide a check list to carry out the pre-RHIOT against. • If there is any doubt as to whether someone is ready, say so, tell them and their station leader where the problems are, so they can work on them. • Do not pass them until they are ready.
PreRHIOTs • It is the short term intention of the CCGA-P to increase the number of personnel preRHIOTed to that at the start of each season we may have 15 to 20 people ready to go to RHIOT
Feedback • Please do give feedback to the station management before leaving. • If you are unable to help with a problem, or did not know the answer to a question, do make a note of it, to provide an answer yourself later, or ask one of the managers for help. • It is important that answers are provided where possible.
Feedback • If you do visit a station and find problems that were not part of the brief for the visit, please do give feedback to the managers so that they can stay in the picture, and promptly deal with those problems that need attention.
Availability • ARTE can remain active in that position as long as they remain compliant with the crewing standards, i.e.: 1. Required sea time of 25 hours over past 12 months 2. First Aid certification up-to-date
Availability • It would not be fair to active SAR Crew for someone not compliant to be acting in such a position
Availability • If your life changes and makes it impossible to act as ARTE, please let the Training Manager know.
