4. Current Water Situation in Pakistan L C C I Research • Water Availability Decreased from 5,000 Cubic Meters per capita in 1950s to 1000 Cubic Meter in 2010 (WAPDA). • Water Availability per capita Ranks Last Amongst Asian Countries (FAO). • Pakistan is Becoming a Severely Water Stress Country.

L C C I Research India’s Water Weapon Under IWT-1960: • India cannot Stop or Interfere with water of our Western Rivers (Chenab, Jehlum, Indus) But • In Case of Baghiliar Dam on River Chenab, India did not Meet IWT Provisions of Sharing Information & Withheld our 0.2 MAF Water. L C C I Research India’s Water Weapon • India is Building a Huge Storage Capability (National River Linking Project) with a Cost US$120 Billion to be Completed in 2016 with Following Features:- • Diversion of 178 cubic km Water-from North to South • Including 3,000 Storage Reservoirs • 14,000 km of Canals (Source: IWMI) • Resulting in Conflicts with Neighbouring Countries Including China, Bangladesh & Nepal.
