ESTABLISHMENTOF NATIONAL CENTRE FOR DYNAMIC TESTS FOR TRANSPORT INDUSTRY
“INSTITUTE OF POLYMERS” The Russian-German Institute of polymers created for the Transform program is implementing R&Ds for issues underlined by OJSC “RZD” along with Saint-Petersburg State University and the leading institutes of the city: Scientific researches relating to technical requirnments and standarts validation production – 2 works; Items for stend and actual testing – 7 works; R&Ds with final pilot run production – 8 works. As the result ,13 patents were issued. At present, Institute of Polymers started elaboration, at request of OJSC “RZD”, the technical project for establishment of the National Centre for Dynamic Tests for the transport industry.
THE CENTER FOR DYNAMIC TESTS The Centre's main activities are: research of the upper structures of railway roads, highways, airfield runways, with consideration for loads, speeds, climate factors and other conditions. • Practical and theoretical research of different types of construction and their elements for the upper roads structures: highways and railroads, airports, undergrounds, with consideration for the influence of loads, speeds, climate factors and other conditions. • Theoretical research of fundamentals of the use of different types of materials and construction elements of the upper road structures, including ones made of elastomeric materials (roadbed base plates, under-sleeper shock absorbers, rail brace sleepers), as well as geotextiles and geogrids. • Static and dynamic stand tests of different constructions of the upper road structures and their components, examination and substantiation of project solutions. Institute of polymers is cooperating with Munich Technical University Laboratory, Germany
THE CENTER FOR DYNAMIC TESTS – TEST STAND At present, necessary dynamic tests have to be ordered to carried out abroad. Therefore, putting into operation a Russian testing centre would allow to discard services of foreign laboratories and carry out all tests at home, while providing at the same time unique possibilities for foreign companies to carry out tests at extreme temperatures from +60° to - 60° in Russia. The centre for dynamic tests will allow to test the operational performance of transport structures, assemblies and materials under actual operational loads and environmental conditions inherent to various regions of Russia and other countries.
