Objectives • After completing this lesson, you should be able to: • Describe the benefits of using Grid Control to manage Oracle Collaboration Suite • Describe how to discover and configure Oracle Collaboration Suite services in Grid Control • Prepare your Oracle Collaboration Suite systems • Create Identity Management services in Grid Control • Create Oracle Collaboration Suite services in Grid Control • Configure Oracle Collaboration Suite application during discovery • Describe how to monitor Oracle Collaboration Suite components
Creating an Oracle Collaboration Suite Service • Prepare Oracle Collaboration Suite: • Configure the mail listener. • Create and configure the test user. • Create a test newsgroup. • Deploy the agent to the Oracle Collaboration Suite hosts. • Prepare Grid Control: • Configure the mail listener service. • Create the Ultra Search instance. • Enable the Oracle Collaboration Suite tab.
Creating an Oracle Collaboration Suite Service • Create the services in Grid Control: • Create the Identity Management service. • Create the Oracle Collaboration Suite service. • Configure Grid Control after discovery: • Configure application services. • Install Oracle Collaboration Suite metric and policy helpsets.
Preparing Oracle Collaboration Suite • Configure the mail listener. • Create and configure the test user: • Create the Oracle Collaboration Suite user. • Configure the Mobile Collaboration user. • Configure the Content Services test user. • Create a test newsgroup. • Deploy the Agent to the Oracle Collaboration Suite hosts.
Configuring the Mail Listener • Agent and listener communicate using a TCP port. • To enable communication, configure the following mail listeners with a TCP address description: • All Oracle Collaboration Suite mail listeners • All Grid Control mail listener services • To configure the mail listener, perform the following steps: • Locate an available port: netstat –an. • Configure listener_es with the TCP address. • Restart the mail listeners.
Creating and Configuring the Test User • Grid Control requires an Oracle Collaboration Suite user account to test services. • Create either of the following: • A single user for all components • Separate users for different components • To create and configure these users: • Create the Oracle Collaboration Suite user • Configure the Mobile Collaboration user • Configure the Content Services test user • Examples in this lesson use a single test user, named EM_GC.

Configuring the Mobile Collaboration User em_configure_mc_user_007_small.gif em_configure_mc_user_015_small.gif
Configuring the Content Services Test User • Disable versioning for the test user: em_disable_versioning_024_small.gif • Copy and save the URL for the test file: em_disable_versioning_036_small.gif
Creating a Test Newsgroup • To test the NNTP service, Grid Control posts a message to a newsgroup. • In Oracle Collaboration Suite, create the test newsgroup where the message can be posted. • Example: um_create_newgroup_008_small.gif

Setting Up and Creating the Oracle Collaboration Suite Service in Grid Control • Prepare Grid Control: • Configure the mail listener service. • Create the Ultra Search instance. • Enable the Oracle Collaboration Suite tab. • Create the services in Grid Control: • Create the Identity Management service. • Create the Oracle Collaboration Suite service. • Configure Grid Control after discovery: • Configure application services. • Install Oracle Collaboration Suite metric and policy helpsets.

Creating an Identity Management Service • To create an Identity Management service, perform the following steps: • Specify access rights for the OID (LDAP) user: • The OID user requires access rights to discover Oracle Collaboration Suite services. • Table 1–1 in the documentation, “Access Rights for the LDAP User,” lists the required access rights. • The examples use the orcladmin user. • Create an Identity Management service: • Create the service after setting up a user with the access rights. • This must be done before you can create Oracle Collaboration Suite services.

Configuring Application Services • You can configure most application services using the General and Name tabs. • The General tabbed page includes the following types of data: • Time Zone: Inherited • Application instances: For example, all mail services • Beacons • Basic Test Properties: Test user connection information • DB Associations • Listeners: Mail listeners • Application Server Association • You can configure some applications using the All Test Parameters tab. • You can use the Names tab to assign meaningful names.
Configuration Guidelines • Use the All Test Parameters tab for the following services: • Content Services: HTTP ports other than 7777 • Web Access Client: Version number not 10.1.1.0.2 • Real-Time Collaboration: Host and port not correctly set • Use information from Oracle Collaboration Suite preparation: • Mail: In NNTP newsgroup, use the test newsgroup. • Content Services: Paste the URI from the URL saved:/us/users/Users-E/em_gc/EM_GC_Test • Mobile Collaboration: Use the account created: 16505551234 Web Access Client
Installing Oracle Collaboration Suite Metric and Policy Helpsets • Oracle Collaboration Suite helpsets are not installed by default; therefore, online Help is not available for all of the Oracle Collaboration Suite. • To include the helpsets, perform the following steps: • Set ORACLE_HOME. • Stop the Oracle Management Service. $ cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin $ ./emctl stop oms • Run the ocs_helpset.pl script. $ cd $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/bin $ $ORACLE_HOME/perl/bin/perl ocs_helpset.pl • Restart the Oracle Management Service. $ cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin $ ./emctl start oms
Managing Oracle Collaboration Suite • After discovery, manage Oracle Collaboration Suite with Grid Control. • Grid Control provides the following benefits to Oracle Collaboration Suite administrators: • Visualization • Automated monitoring and alerts • Root cause analysis • Collecting and using client configuration data • Manage by using the following Grid Control windows: • Oracle Collaboration Suite Targets page • Service Home page • Oracle Collaboration Suite dashboard
Oracle Collaboration Suite Targets Page • Display Oracle Collaboration Suite services: Targets > Collaboration Suites. • Oracle Collaboration Suite services are displayed in a hierarchy. • The page also includes the following data: • Performance • Usage • Availability em_create_ocs_service_290_small.gif
Service Home Page • em_ocs_charts_001.gif
Oracle Collaboration Suite Dashboard • em_dashboard_001.gif
Summary • In this lesson, you should have learned how to: • Describe how to discover and configure Oracle Collaboration Suite services in Grid Control • Prepare your Oracle Collaboration Suite systems • Create Identity Management services in Grid Control • Create Oracle Collaboration Suite services in Grid Control • Configure Oracle Collaboration Suite application during discovery • Describe the benefits of using Grid Control to manage Oracle Collaboration Suite • Describe how to monitor Oracle Collaboration Suite components
