Geometry 1 Program recommended for advanced study • Text: Discovering Geometry by Key Curriculum Press • Target: Advanced students ready to study Geometry • Positive Qualities: • Discovery approach with real life problems • Text that has been used successfully in the past • CUHSD uses this text for geometry and rates it highly
A fully funded math program will support a strong implementation • Proposed funding sources include Instructional Materials Funding Realignment Program (IMFRP) • CGP Math - $99,000 • Dolciani Algebra - $15,000 • Lottery for Instructional Materials • Discovering Geometry - $3,500
Sufficient texts are provided for both the classroom and home • Continues Cambrian’s practice of providing students with a text in the classroom as well as at home • Reflects interest in • reducing backpack weight for students (AB 2532, 2002) • Avoiding cost & management of campus lockers • The home/school measure costs ~ $31,000
Planning will support an effective implementation of CGP Math • If approved, the Price adoption team will reconvene to plan: • Professional development & collaboration • Alignment of our scope and sequence with the textbook including assessment. • Best strategies for math intervention • This will occur from January to June 2009 in preparation for a full implementation beginning in August, 2009
