  10. Bret Davis, MSW Board Representative to NASW IN, reflects on his experiences in advocacy and encourages students to become active members of NASW.

  11. Clara Anderson, Children’s Bureau, discusses HB1193.

  12. Despite the weather, we had nearly 250 Social Work Students and Practitioners gather for our 11th consecutive LEAD day.

  13. Rep. Ed Delaney and Rep. Cleo Duncan both took the opportunity to thank Social Workers for all they do to improve the lives of Hoosiers.

  14. Heather Greenwell, MSW Intern at NASW IN, reflects on her experiences in field placement and emphasizes social worker’s responsibility to be involved in advocacy.

  15. Rep. Sheila Klinker addresses attendees of LEAD and recounts the historical attempts for social work licensure.

  16. Participants enjoyed having lunch with their legislators.

  17. Maggie Banning (Planned Parenthood of Indiana) and Paul Chase (AARP) highlighted legislation that were priorities for their organizations this session.

  18. Rep. Greg Porter, Josephine Hughes, and Rep. John Bartlett. Rep. Porter told the audience that Social Workers work to improve the quality of life.

  19. Sen. Alting took a moment to address the crowd as well. He reflected on how Social Workers had personally impacted his life in a positive way. He went on to say, “Thank God for you.”

  20. Sen. Vi Simpson addresses LEAD participants. Senator Simpson discussed several bills, including the issues surrounding property tax caps. She also reminded participants that the Statehouse was our house and we should be heard.

  21. Stephan Viewheg (Board President) encourages the crowd to be energetic by leading everyone in a round of the wave.
