Sola Scriptura – Part 2John 5:37-47 Misuse of the Scriptures Scripture can be treated as an end-all. Instead, it should point us to Christ. Bible study becomes academic. We are not drawn to Christ through it. But we receive honor from men! And we have no salvation! John 9:29-33
Sola Scriptura – Part 2John 5:37-47 Misuse of the Scriptures Details of Scripture are more important than the truths contained in them. Consider Scripture, rather than God, as the source of life. Christ is the life, not Scripture. Formal study of the Bible does not guarantee eternal life. John 3:3
Sola Scriptura – Part 2John 5:37-47 Accusation of the Scriptures God’s standards are given in Scripture. Man used those standards to compare himself to others. “Am I better than my neighbor?” The real question was: “Am I as Good as God?” Faith is born out of a proper knowledge of who we are.

Sola Scriptura – Part 2 Application Do you read the Scripture? Daily? Does it point you to your own sinfulness? Do you look to the Scripture to point you to the cross? Have you confessed your sinfulness and your need for a Savior? In humility, have you committed yourself to Christ and His payment for your sin?
