  2. Our Purpose • Study the effectiveness of hand dryer systems • Compare effectiveness of various hand dryer models • Compare hand dryers overall with paper towels

  3. Our intended method(s) • Measure output air temperature and air flow • Determine output power hand dryer produces • Figure out rough approximation of amount of water on a person’s hand after washing • Attempt to model how much time it would take for an average hand dryer to remove all water from hand • Possibly compare field data with that provided by manufacturer • Find efficiency by comparing output with energy input (to be obtained from manufacturer)

  4. Tools/Instruments • Thermometer • Hot-wire anemometer - Device that measures wind speed • Duct tape and youtube videos • Calculator

  5. Why is it important? • Sustainability is a big thing these days • Hand dryer efficiency has room for improvement, we are making the public aware of this • It makes us feel good!
