In a picturesque place in ‘Ziemia Zaborska’ on north coast of ‘Jezioro Karasińskiego’, by the river Brda where the village Swornegacie is situated. Location
Present name was established in XIX century. In the history the name was modified as following: Swornigac – 1272 Swornigat – 1275 Swornigacz – 1303 Swornigatz – 1354 – 1382 Swornegacz – 1382 – 1400 Sfornegac – 1653 Swornogac – 1664 Name
History • The village was first mentioned in the document of the Pope Grzegorz X on 15th July 1272, which includes recommendation for bishops of Chełm to take care of located here Augustinian Order. This order was established by the Pomeranian Prince, Mestwin II and his wife Princess Eufrozyna
History • Augustinian Fathers did not have a peaceful life here. The order was attacked by the Teutonic . Because of this Wacław III in 1303 allowed Augustins to join Cistercian Order in Oliwa. • In 1330 ‘Teutonic Voivodeship ’ was established. In 1382 Henry von Bullendorf gave the land to new settlers.
History • In 1275 Augustynian Fathers had already administered the church. Prince Mestwin became their benefactor and charged Swornegacie (with a Lake Łukomie) to Borysław. • In 1291 the prince Mestwin II arrived to the village and gave it a benefit „location privilege” confirmed by the prince Przemysław II in 1294.
History • From XIV to XVII century the village developed. In Swornegacie the wooden church and school were built. In 1617 the church became Konarzyny Congregation.
History • Between the First and the Second World War Swornegacie had only wooden houses with thatched roofs. People worked very hard with sandy and little productive soil. The additional source of income was fishing and work in a forest.
History • Until the Second World War cultural and educational life in Swornegacie was animated. In the village many organisations against invaders were functioning. A lot of people were killed by the Germans. Their surnames are on the wall on the church in Swornegacie.
History • In 1932 a modern school was built, and it has been functioning up to present day.
History • After the Second World War the village was being rebuilt. Wooden houses were changed to brick.
History • In 1962 in the village the fire broke out, and it destroyed many buildings. • The big event for people in Swornegacie in 1963 was the opening of the cultural house. It was built by the act of social work.
History • In 1966 a new hostel at the school was opened. • In 1995 people received a sport hall.
History • In the nineties Swornegacie was being innovated. The commune of Chojnice invested in Swornegacie enormously big sum of money. In the village telephones, networks and sewage systems were installed. Sidewalks and light lamps appeared in the streets.
Present days • Swornegacie are still progressive. On the holiday it becomes a well known place in Poland.
National Park • The village Swornegacie is situated in ‘Bory Tucholskie’ where is the National Park with beautiful animals and plants.
National Park • The area of the park has 4798,23 hectares. Park is situated in the bound of Pomeranian Province.
National Park • In the Park there are a lot of different animals, living on the land, in the water, and birds.
