Scottsdale Report: A 15-year study

This report presents findings from a 15-year study in Scottsdale evaluating the impact of the sprinkler ordinance implemented on 1/1/86. Results show reduced fire damage and water usage in homes with sprinklers. Over 50% of homes in Scottsdale have sprinklers, with significantly fewer fires, deaths, and water damage compared to unsprinklered homes. Scottsdale Report: A 15-year study • Scottsdale Sprinkler Ordinance implemented 1/1/86 and evaluated through 1/1/01 • 41,408 homes have sprinklers (more than 50%) • 598 home fires, 49 fires in sprinklered homes • No deaths in sprinklered homes • 13 people died in homes without sprinklers • 92% controlled with two heads or less
