Create a unique learning opportunity … this is more than just a trip! • Pre and post trip meetings – 85% attendance required • Spanish and French history night • Spanish and French culture • Language 101 and much more… • Ropes course team building activities • A positive, safe, and fun learning environment • Travel preparation: passports, luggage, what to expect, etc.

  3. Number of trip participants • Trip Advisors………………….4 filled positions • Student Applicants…………..33 slots available • Adult Applicants……………...11 slots available Trip total = 48 participants

  4. Student Cost = $4,180 (3,980 w/ discount) Adult Cost = $4,515 (4,315 w/ discount)

  5. Monthly Payment Plan • Automatic deduction from your checking account each month Approximately $225/ month for students and $245/ month for adults. • No late fees • $100 discount with EF • Final payment deadline up to 25 days prior to departure • Other payment options available

  6. What is included? • Round trip airfare from Spokane • Lodging in Hotels • Students: 2 to 5 per room depending on location • Adults: 2 per room • Transportation throughout the trip • EF tour director to guide us on the trip • Breakfast and dinner daily • Guided sightseeing/walking tours • Entrance fees to selected attractions

What is not included? • $40 for Pre-trip Team Building activities at the ropes course • Lunches, beverages, and snacks throughout the day • Passport fees • Souvenir and/or free time costs • Additional airline baggage fees • Phone calls and/or internet café access. • We recommend $500 for additional expenses.

  8. Application process • Four Steps • Complete an application and return it to one of the trip advisors ASAP (see application due date on top of the application – October 22nd). • Wait for a confirmation email from the trip advisors Friday evening October 26th • Once your application is accepted, complete the online instructions to enroll and pay your non-refundable $95 fee (this will need to be completed by midnight, November 2nd) • Attend all group meetings.

Selection Process • Applications are available tonight • Selection Criteria are as follows: • Completeness and professionalism of application • Strength of application answers 3) Teacher recommendations • Probability of success while abroad (This is a score that will be calculated from the previous criteria using our selection rubric)

Fundraisers? • Group Fundraisers • We will help with TWO BIG events • Ideas/examples: • Krispy Kreme, Little Caesar’s Pizza, Cow Girl Chocolate fundraisers. • Carwash • Individual Fundraisers • All additional fundraising will be done on your own or in groups of your choosing. • Ideas/examples (see EF website) • Odd Jobs for travel • Babysitting

Commonly Asked Questions • Can adults/parents go? • Yes, applications are available tonight. • Can a younger or older sibling go? • The requirements dictate that this trip is for current 6th to 8th grade students only. • Can a relative go on the trip? • They must complete an adult application and/or meet the student age requirements (students would also need to fill out and return an application). • What if I cannot pay the full trip cost? • Once you commit to this trip you are obligated to pay your way. • There are penalties for early withdrawal.

  12. Commonly Asked Questions • Dietary options? • EF does have different meal options depending on individual needs. • Medications while abroad? • Students are responsible for all needed medications (please notify trip advisors for ANY medical issues prior to the trip).

Our Participant Selection Timeline • October 15th – Parent meeting and applications are out. • October 22nd– Applications are DUE and will be reviewed by the advisors. • October 26th –Acceptance letters are sent out electronically. • November 2nd– Accepted travelers must be enrolled online with EF and have paid the non-refundable $95 fee. • November 3rd – Accepted applicants who are not enrolled will lose their spot to an alternate.
