  1. HF Planning WRAP 0971D

  2. HF Planning • Planning of HF systems employing ionospheric propagation • WRAP uses software from the Institute for Telecommunication Sciences in the USA • ITS HF software is accessed from within WRAP • Properties of stations with definitions according to WRAP standards are used • Data is transferredautomatically to the ITS codes • The standard installation of the ITS HF software can be used external to WRAP. WRAP 0971D

  3. Main tools The following ITS programs can be used: • VOACAP/ICEPAC/REC533: For point-to-point calculations • VOAAREA/ICEAREA/RECAREA: For point-to-area calculations • HFAnt: For antenna editing and generation. WRAP 0971D

  4. Data from WRAP • The following data required by the HF tools is taken from WRAP projects: • Transmitter, receiver coordinates • Transmitter, receiver names • Frequency list • Required S/N (from receiver necessary bandwidth and required S/I) • Transmitter, receiver antennas (in ITS HF format) • Transmitter power • Transmitter, receiver antenna azimuths WRAP 0971D

  5. Time availability WRAP 0971D

  6. SNR at required reliability WRAP 0971D

  7. SNR along a p-t-p path WRAP 0971D

  8. Time availability, area plot WRAP 0971D

  9. Propagating frequency range • Calculation of the propagating frequency range based on • Time of year, time of day interval, sunspot number • Station properties • Station locations • Frequency limits • Low: LUF for defined reliability • High: Selection of FOT, MUF, HPF, HPF+20% • Band definitions over time-of-day interval • Maximum frequency range to propagate all the timeTypical application: Fixed-frequency, frequency hopping • Lowest and highest frequency having propagationTypical application: ALE, frequency adaptive systems WRAP 0971D

  10. Propagating frequency range • Function available to • Create allotments • Assign frequencies to stations and networks • Divide allotments to generate for instance ALE pools WRAP 0971D

  11. Integration features • WRAP functions available for HF Planning: • WRAPdB storage of stations • Creation of stations with all the basic features for duplication, linking, moving, map handling, groups, sites, templates, nets etc • Handling of equipment data • Generation of allotments (frequency lists) for networks and links, considering spectrum utilisation as defined by available databases • ITS HF features • Point-to-point planning • Point-to-area planning • Sophisticated, versatile and widely accepted methods • Wide-spread software with very large user community WRAP 0971D
