  1. History of Occupational Assessment at PC • Began work in January of 2000 • Goal: • Establish Outcomes unique to the Occupational Programs at Phoenix College • Develop a method to measure this outcome

  2. Why Assessment? • Improve teaching and learning in your program • Requirement for NCA • Requirement of the CC Board

Who Are The Members of the Committee • Committee as a whole consists of all Occupational Program Directors • Steering Committee (think tank) • Kristin Anderson, Chair Dental Program, Chair Occupational Assessment • Kay Hilder, Director Interpreter Preparation • Diane Stark, Director, Computer Information Systems • Helen Houser, Director, Medical Assisting/Patient Care Technician

  4. Outcome Statement #1 • Accepted by majority of program directors in October of 2000 • Occupational Programs at Phoenix College will prepare students for the workforce

  5. Examples of Methods of Evaluation • Graduate Surveys • Student Surveys • Advisory Board Reviews • Customer Evaluations • Skill Sheet • Student Evaluations of Courses • Intern Evaluation Forms

  6. Results: Examples of what to write • Overall scores from the employer survey were favorable • 99% of the customers surveyed rated the service provided was excellent • 14/15 students passed their board • 90% of students surveyed rated the course presentation excellent

  8. Examples of Changes Made in the Program • Very important!!!!!!!! • Feedback Loop As a result of the information obtained from the student feedback of coursework, the program added an addition lecture on food processing.
