Evaluating your Technology Resources Sometimes using resources online are not the most effective tool to teach your students. 1. Measure Effectiveness Evaluate your students use of the technology. Are your students able to find, analyze, and convey information effectively and creatively? Does this math CD-ROM effectively teach your students? Test it by putting in some math problems and check its accuracy.
2. Method How technology fits into your class and curriculum. Has it had a positive effect? Depending of the type of technology you want to assess, a number of methods could be used: Teacher Observations Checklists Rating Scales Rubrics
Teacher Observations Check for: Your students level of attitude, interest and motivation. How long it takes to complete the task Does it encourage individual or group work? Does it serve as a distraction or a learning tool?
Checklists Create a list of attributes you want from your technology and check if the resource accomplishes them or not. Checklists are fast to create However, they can lack in detail
Rating Scales To what extend does the technology accomplish certain goals? Rating scales can be subjective.
Rubrics Rubrics are very accurate and can give a lot of information. However, they can be time consuming to make.
