Making a Difference Wiersbe - 10 Power Principles for Christian Service Chapter 4 – The Measure of Ministry is Sacrifice (The following presentation consists of quotations from the text of this book, which you have purchased)
“Ministry that costs nothing accomplishes nothing. If the minister’s life is without a measure of pain and sacrifice, his ministry will be without blessing.”
The faithful servant of God doesn’t deliberately seek trials and pain just to brag about his scars, nor does he make sacrifices in order to earn some future blessing.
Are You a “Wounded Healer”?“Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.”(Corinthians 1:4-5 AV)
Just as it’s wrong to try to escape suffering by disobeying God’s will, it’s also wrong to rush impetuously [impulsively] into suffering out of God’s will.
“And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all [men], apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;” (2Ti 2:24-25 AV)
What About Suffering? • Expect it. • Accept it as God’s gift. • Evaluate it and yield to God’s purposes. • Learn to live a day at a time and to give your cares to him. • Trust God to turn assigned suffering into eternal glory.
Sacrifice is not paying a price. It’s making an eternal investment with guaranteed dividends.
