  6. General Information • 4% of state territory is protected (2037200 hectares); • 6572 areas and objects; • 1996 - ratification of Ramsar convention. New level of protection of wetlands (688 000 hectares).

Law № 2456 ‘Ukrainian Wildlife Fund’(„Про природно-заповідний фонд України” )of 16.06.1992 • Basical legislative principles of organisation, protection, effective exploration (exploitation), maintaining and ameliorationg the current state of natural complexes and objects of Ukraine; • Wildlife fund of Ukraine is protected as a part of a national heritage with a special regime of protection, ameloiration and exploitation • Wildlife fund of Ukraine is a part of a worldwide system of a protected natural areas and objects

Law № 2456 ‘Ukrainian Wildlife Fund’(„Про природно-заповідний фонд України” )of 16.06.1992 • General measures in protecting the areas of wildlife fund in Ukraine (Art. 8) - creation and maintaining a special regime;- organisation and systematical observation of the state of natural complexes and objects;- complex researches (to develop scientific principles of protection and effective exploitation);- creation of the economical mechanisms for stimulating the protection;- providing systematical state and general public control to check the proper regime of protection and exploitation; - international cooperation.

  11. Carpathian Biosphere Reserve • Established in 1933; • Became biosphere in 1992; • Surface - 53630 hectares; • More than 1000 sp. of plantes, 64 sp. of mammals, 173 sp. of birds, 9 sp. of reptilia, 13 sp. of amphibia, 23 sp. of fish, more than10000 sp. of invertebres

  14. Karadagsky Natural Reserve • Established in 1979, • Area - 28 742 hectares; • Ancient (jurassic) volcano, • 29 sp. of plantes, 35 sp. of mammals, 130 sp. of birds, 15 sp. of reptilia.
