Interesting Information • Daly first became involved in drawing by using pencil stubs handed down from an uncle who painted watercolor pictures. • Inspired by a collection of toys arranged on the windowsill of his London studio, Daly created his pictures • Awards • Horn Book Honor List, 1987 • New York Times Ten Best Illustrated Books list, 1995 • Children's Africana Book Award Honor Book for Young Children, 2004
