Applications • When we speak, it must be as the oracles of God. • I Peter 4:11 – “If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God” • Revelations 22:18-19 – • (18) “If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book” • (19) “If anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life”
Applications • We must put our trust in what God has given us. • II Timothy 3:16-17 – “All scripture is given… that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” • II Peter 1:3 – “His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness” • Hebrews 2:1 – “we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away”
Applications • Whatever we speak & do, it must be of faith. • Hebrews 11:6 – “without faith it is impossible to please Him (God)” • Romans 14:23 – “whatever is not from faith is sin” • Romans 10:17 – “So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God”
Applications • We must not go beyond what is written. • I Corinthians 4:6 – “that you may learn in us not to think beyond what is written” • II John 9 – “Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God” • Going beyond is turning to a different gospel • Galatians 1:6-9 – “if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed”
Applications • If it is not from God, it must be from Men. • Matthew 21:25 – “Where was it from? From heaven or from men?” • Matthew 15:8-9 – “in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.”
Conclusion • Numbers 24:13 – “If Balak were to give me his house full of silver and gold, I could not go beyond the word of the Lord, to do good or bad of my own will. What the Lord says, that I must speak” • Proverbs 23:23 – “Buy the truth, and do not sell it, also wisdom and instruction and understanding”
