TransPAC events for 2000 • John Hicks was hired as the TransPAC High Performance Computing and Communications (HPCC) applications engineer • email: jhicks@iu.edu • Goals for TransPAC include working with network engineers and scientists to develop, debug, monitor, and provide analysis for international network applications. • TransPAC annual report was completed and submitted to the US National Science Foundation (NSF) in July 2000 • Copies are available
TransPAC events for 2000 (cont.) • TransPAC participated in the International Grid (iGrid) demonstration at INET2000, Yokohama, Japan 18 – 21 July 2000. IGrid featured 24 applications from 14 regions. • Established Global Network Operations Center (GNOC). • GNOC currently provides 24x7x365 NOC services to TransPAC, Euro-Link, MIRnet, AMPATH, STAR TAP, and Abilene. • Information available at http://globalnoc.iu.edu

TransPAC events for 2000 (cont.) • TransPAC HPIIS Performance Review, October 25, 2000. • Positive response on all HPIIS networks. • Funding provided for next two years.
TransPAC events for 2000 (cont.) • Chris Robb was hired as the TransPAC Network Engineer. • email: chrobb@indiana.edu • Chris will work closely with Linda Winkler (acting network engineer, ANL) and John Hicks HPCC applications engineer and APAN counterparts. • Chris will be deeply involved in application monitoring and analysis.
TransPAC Link Status • TransPAC was upgraded from 100Mpbs to 155Mbps (OC3) in November 2000. • The current TransPAC configuration is referred to as the “TransPAC Northern Route”.
TransPAC Future Upgrades • Future upgrades include development of the “TransPAC Southern Route” and expansion of “TransPAC Northern Route”. • RFP for next two years of TransPAC bandwidth to be issued in March 2001.
