Me As A Learner I am a friendly person with a good sense of humour. I have kept some old friends from Primary and have also made some new friends at Secondary and in football. I like to spend time with my friends and they spend time with me. I trust my friends and I think that they trust me. I think I have made a lot of progress at Secondary. I am never late and always properly equipped for class or sport. I like football best. I have a lot more confidence now, I can produce good talks in front of the whole class and I will ask if I have not understood something or do not know what to do. I am quite well organised and fit in my paper round with football and homework. I am learning to be a leader now that I have been made Captain of my football team. I get on well with the team and we are winning a lot of games. I try to behave responsibly. I know when it’s time to joke and when it’s best not to. I want to do well in my subjects.
Me As A Learner • In the last two years I have become more active, hardworking and motivated. I have been giving 100% in PE and have become much fitter. I love art and work very hard to get my investigations finished before the deadline. Hearing about other people having ambition and being successful has motivated me and I have ambitions in art which I will try to achieve. I am a reliable and punctual person, I do the things I need to do like homework and I am never late. • I am a friendly person and I am still making new friends at school. It’s easy to be nice to people when you like them and I find that I do get on with people. This means that I work well in groups. • In school I really enjoy Art and French. I seem to be good at Art but I really enjoy it because I have lots of creative ideas I want to express. I want to go to Art School so that I can develop my art skills and I would like to go to Japan and make my own manga and anime series. • I enjoy French because I really like to learn different languages, it’s fun and interesting. I even enjoy English because I am learning about different genres and learning new phrases. I learn by going over and over things.
Numeracy I can use numbers in my day to day life and recently had experience of dealing with money on my work experience in a shop. I am able to carry out calculations to do with money and I also understand fractions and percentages and can use these. I have used measurement in Science and Home Economics and in Technical when I make my bird feeder, and am able to record times and scores in PE. I can use information from graphs and charts and understand what these mean. I have sometimes used this in Social Subjects. I can read timetables and I use this information to be on time for my music lessons.
Literacy Literacy is one of my strong points in school. In English I recently finished writing a critical essay on a novella 'Of Mice and Men’. This essay stretched my vocabulary but understanding the piece of literature helped produce one of my best structured essays. In Geography I use most of my literacy skills to explain and describe mountains and the 'areas of deposition and erosion'. I have to use effective adjectives to describe mountains and use similes and metaphors to emphasise the features of the included in 'areas of deposition and erosion'.
Health and Wellbeing I am responsible pupil and I have shown this by taking my little brother fishing and other places. I get involved in groups and I think this has made me more confident. I have recently been involved in helping at the school masses by playing drums. This was the first time I did this and I was very nervous. I have built good friendships since coming to my school and I also have good relationships with my teachers. I can plan my homework and I am learning to set myself targets each period in some classes. I like to spend some time with my family on a Sunday because it’s good to spend time with my family rather than just going out with my friends all the time. I am a positive and happy person and I try to make the best of situations.
Other Areas of the curriculum For social studies I have learned new skills and developed on my writing. I have written essays, newspaper articles and Powerpoint presentations. When making these reports I have used different software and now know how to structure an essay successfully. I have improved on my French language skills and can now write at length to give my opinion about school, family and friends.
