Research into Chernobyl In the early hours of 26th April 1986, one of the four nuclear reactors at Chernobyl exploded. Two plant workers died on the night of the accident, a further 28 people died in the next few weeks from acute radiation poisoning. When reactor four exploded it released more than a hundred times the radiation of the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Thousands more are expected to die from the long term effects of radiation.
Research into the Charity. Charity was founded by Victor Mizzi in 1991, he is still the chairman of the charity today. Over 46,000 children have been brought over since 1992. As Belarus received 70% of the radioactive fall out, we aim to bring 20 children per link (aged 9 – 11), a year to the UK for a month. The children get chosen for a variety of reasons, for example their health. Their teachers chose who they think needs the break the most.
Visual style and Sound. Sound: For the sound in my documentary I will use, the interview for the main sound, and then will place some music underneath. Visual style: I will use archival footage, and use a canon because it has detachable lenses so will give me nicer footage than the nx5, as I can control the depth of field. I will make the footage and images include bright colours so that it shows how happy they are when they are here. This will contrast with the black and white pictures of Chernobyl.
