  4. Hinduism, India, and Caste • 82 % of all people living in India practice Hinduism • Hindus- people who follow the religion • Caste and Hinduism are related. Your place in the Caste system is determined by your Dharma in your previous life.

  5. Brahman • Brahman is the world soul. • All life comes from this world soul. • The “om” sound is used to call the world soul.

  6. Brahman is 3 gods in one Brahma Shiva Vishnu (Creator) (destroyer) (protector)

  7. Vishnu • Vishnu has appeared 9 times. • Hindu’s are waiting for his 10th appearance on a white horse. • This will signal that good has overcome evil.

  19. Four Main Ideas of Hinduism • Samsar- reincarnation • Karma- Every action brings a certain result. The sum of a persons’ past life. • Dharma- moral obligation. Follow the rules of the Caste and you will be reincarnated into something higher. • Moksha- end of rebirths. Heaven.
