How does my product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues? • Based on the original music video of Summer, by Calvin Harris, meaning is constructed in my group’s film by showing the relationship of the boy and girl. Also, both videos create a feeling of fun summer times. • This represents the fun, carefree, or relaxed feeling that teenagers admire about the summertime. • The meaning behind this music video also represents the experience teenagers or young adults go through when in a relationship.
How does my product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text? • My groups’ music video is unlike other music videos because the whole thing is taken from a point of view. • In my opinion, this appeals to audiences of teenagers or young adults because they feel as if they are in the video taking place in these fun experiences.
How did my production skills develop throughout this project? • My production skills developed drastically throughout this project in a couple of ways. • For instance, I got a better understanding at how the editing process works; cutting, adding music, matching the video clips to the music and making it flow together smoothly. • I learned more about how to construct meaningful shot types and angles. • I also learned how to show the audience the true meaning behind a song.
How did I integrate technology into my project? • In this project my group and I used several sources of technology to contribute to the production of the music video. • We used YouTube to get the music, and to research the original music video. • We used an IPhone6 to film the entire video. • Also, we used the editing software program on the computers at school. • Lastly, we used WordPress to publish blog posts, critical reflection, and the final draft to share with our teacher.
