Why is Ghusl necessary ? يَـٰٓأَيُّہَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَقۡرَبُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَأَنتُمۡ سُكَـٰرَىٰ حَتَّىٰ تَعۡلَمُواْ مَا تَقُولُونَ وَلَا جُنُبًا إِلَّا عَابِرِى سَبِيلٍ حَتَّىٰ تَغۡتَسِلُواْ‌ۚ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرۡضَىٰٓ أَوۡ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ أَوۡ جَآءَ أَحَدٌ۬ مِّنكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡغَآٮِٕطِ أَوۡ لَـٰمَسۡتُمُ ٱلنِّسَآءَ فَلَمۡ تَجِدُواْ مَآءً۬ فَتَيَمَّمُواْ صَعِيدً۬ا طَيِّبً۬ا فَٱمۡسَحُواْ ِوُجُوهِكُمۡ وَأَيۡدِيكُمۡ‌ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ كَانَ عَفُوًّا غَفُورًا.

  7. O you who believe! Approach not As Salah when you are in a drunken state until you know (the meaning) of what you utter, • nor when you are in a state of Janabah, (i.e. in a state of sexual impurity and have not yet taken a bath) • except when travelling on the road (without enough water, or just passing through a mosque), till you wash your whole body. • And if you are ill, or on a journey, or one of you comes after answering the call of nature, or you have been in contact with women (by sexual relations) and you find no water, perform Tayammum with clean earth and rub therewith your faces and hands • Truly, Allah is Ever Oft Pardoning, Oft Forgiving. (Surah An-Nisa 4: Verse 43)

  8. … وَإِن كُنتُمْ جُنُبًا فَاطَّهَّرُواْ …. and If you are in a state of Janabah (sexual impurity), purify yourselves. (Surah Al Maidah 5: Verse 6)

  13. Masturbation is not allowed. It is permissible with extreme loathingonly if there is a real chance of fornication. Just like haramfood is allowed under extreme circumstances. Masturbation discharge makes ghuslcompulsory.

  26. Learn to recognize the consistency of the normal discharge from menstrual discharge. Always mark your first date and last date as it helps to remember your cycle for the next month. Ruling on any issue related with menstruation depends on the last cycle in Shari’ah and Medicine. Things to Remember

Narrated by Ayesha (RA: An Ansari woman asked the Prophet (PBUH) how to take a bath after finishing menses. He replied, “Take a piece of cloth perfumed with musk and clean the private parts with it thrice.” (Bukhari) Note: Masahof head is not essential while doing wudhu The Ghusl after Menstruation

Why do we have to make wudu? يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ إِذَا قُمْتُمْ إِلَى الصَّلاةِ فاغْسِلُواْ وُجُوهَكُمْ وَأَيْدِيَكُمْ إِلَى الْمَرَافِقِ وَامْسَحُواْ بِرُؤُوسِكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُمْ إِلَى الْكَعْبَينِ وَإِن كُنتُمْ جُنُبًا فَاطَّهَّرُواْ وَإِن كُنتُم مَّرْضَى أَوْ عَلَى سَفَرٍ أَوْ جَاء أَحَدٌ مَّنكُم مِّنَ الْغَائِطِ أَوْ لاَمَسْتُمُ النِّسَاء فَلَمْ تَجِدُواْ مَاء فَتَيَمَّمُواْ صَعِيدًا طَيِّبًا فَامْسَحُواْ بِوُجُوهِكُمْ وَأَيْدِيكُم مِّنْهُ مَا يُرِيدُ اللّهُ لِيَجْعَلَ عَلَيْكُم مِّنْ حَرَجٍ وَلَـكِن يُرِيدُ لِيُطَهَّرَكُمْ وَلِيُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهُ عَلَيْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَ Surah Al -Ma’idah, 5: Verse 6

  31. O you who believe! When you rise up for prayer, wash your faces • and your hands up to the elbows, • and lightly rub your heads • and (wash) your feet up to the ankles. • And if you are in a state of Janabah, purify yourselves. • And if you are sick or on a journey, • or one of you comes from answering the call of nature, • or you have had contact with women, • and you find no water, then perform Tayammum with clean earth and rub your faces and your hands with some of it. • Allah does not want to place you in difficulty, but He wants to purify you and to complete His favour to you that you may be thankful.

  35. A MasnoonDu’a for reciting after Wudu اشھد ان لا الہ الا اللہ وحدہ لا شریک لہ ، و اشھد ان محمدا عبدہ و رسولہ I witness that there is no God but Allah, He is alone and has no partner, and I witness that Muhammad (PBUH) is His servant and Prophet (Muslim)

  36. Another MasnoonDu’a for reciting after Wudu اَللّھُمَّ اجْعَلْنِیْ مِنَ التَّوَّابِیْنَ وَ اجْعَلْنِیْ مِنَ الْمُتَطَھِّرِیْن O Allah! Make me from amongst those who return to You often in repentance and make me from amongst those who remain clean and pure. (Tirmidhi)

  37. Things to Remember for Wudu • Do not leave any body part dry • Do remove nail polish before everywudu • Do remove any waterproof makeup • Do move rings/earrings when washing • Do wash right hand/foot first • Do not leave tap running

  40. Case 1. • You are making wudu and the telephone rings, you pick up the phone and then after 5 minutes realize you have to wash your feet. • Do you just wash the feet?

  41. Case 2. • You are making wudu and a water fight starts with your sibling. Mom walks in and you all had to stop. • Will you start the wudu again or continue from where you stopped?

  43. What about wiping over socks? • Conditions: • Wear them after Wudu or Ghusl • Cover the whole feet including ankle • Durable enough so you can walk in them

Al-Masah ala al-Kuffayn Permissible for : Invalid when: • Resident • One day • One night • Traveler • Three days • Three nights • Takes off the socks • The expiration of the permissible time period. • Any condition which requires Ghusl. • Exceptions: • Splints, cast or dressing: • Wudu is not a condition • Valid till the split or cast is needed • Method of Masah • Wipe with a wet hand • the top of the foot

  45. Practical implication • Its time to go to school, you have already done Fajr. • You wore your socks and shoes with wudhu. • There are extra classes so Zuhr Prayers have to be done at school. • Your wudhu has broken. • Do you have to take off socks and shoes for Wudhu at school?

  48. Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah :The Prophet (PBUH) said: ... The earth has been made for me (and for my followers) a place for praying and a thing to perform Tayammum, therefore anyone of my followers can pray wherever the time of a prayer is due. (Bukhari)
