  3. Description This interactive panel discussion will highlight topics in financial literacy and introduce the Financial and Life Skills Center as a resource for students. We plan to discuss money choices the Financial Literacy Ambassadors have made (and witnessed), lessons learned, and how to best navigate finances in college.

  5. # 1: your role What do you do as a Financial Literacy Ambassador? What is your role in the student population at Penn State?

  6. # 2: the why In your opinion, what’s the greatest benefit of learning to manage your money while in college?

  7. # 3: successes Could you share your favorite success story about a student that you’ve worked with?

  8. # 4: parental guidance In terms of your own money management, what do you wish you would have discussed with you parents? How do you think students can best go about having these conversations with their parents?

  9. # 5: financial plans How do you personally get the students that you work with excited about saving and preparing for their financial future?

  10. # 6: financial challenge What is something that you were not prepared for financially when you started college? How did you deal with and overcome your situation?

  11. # 7: student loans What tips can you share around responsible student loan use? • Is there anything that you know now, that you wish you would have known before starting college?

  12. # 8: housing What factors influence your housing decisions as a Penn State student? How do you make the best housing choice for you?

  13. # 9: meal plans What factors influence your decision around getting a campus meal plan? What tips do you have for students regarding meal plan usage?

  14. # 10: credit cards In your opinion, should a student get a credit card on their own? Could you discuss some benefits/drawbacks of getting a credit card as a student? What does responsible credit card use mean to you?

  15. BONUS: Can you share your best tips for saving money as a college student?
