Deccan plateau (Central India) • C. Plateau of Tibet (Southwest China) • higher than the Rockies • Several small volcanic mountains throughout SERing of Fire area • Hindu Kush Mountains (Pakistan)

Lowlands and major waterways • Indus River Valley • Northwestern India (drains from Himalayas) • Major culture hearth of southern Asia • Floods every year (fertilizes soil/ kills thousands) • Ganges River • Northern India (drains Himalayas) • floods every year (fertilizes soil/kills people) • Huang He/Yellow River • Runs in North China plain in NE China • major farming region of Asia • Mekong River • Drains SE Asia into the South China Sea

Climates- (very similar to North America) • Himalayas and Plateau of Tibet- Highland (always cold) • Mongolia and Western China- Desert or dry grassland • Northeast- Continental (4 seasons) • East- Humid Subtropical (just like us in Georgia) • Far Southeast- Tropical (mostly hot and rainy) • Monsoon- Wet and Dry Season south of Himalayas • IV. Resources • A. China has huge amounts of coal, oil, iron, gold • B. India has coal, natural gas, gold, aluminum • C. Japan has many resources-Just not energy or • building resources. • D. Other resources are spread throughout the region
