13. PLATEAU – Flat land w/ higher elevation than surroundings, w/ @ least 1 steep side / cliff. 14. PLAIN - Large area of flat or rolling land.
15. DESERT – Large area of land w/ little rainfall. 16. MOUNTAIN – High elevation, steep slopes w/ a peak or summit.
17. MT. RANGE – Group of mountains Close together. 18. GLACIER – Large body of slow moving ice.
19. VOLCANO - Mt. by which lava escapes from the earth’s mantle. 20. ARCHIPELAGO - A group / chain of islands.
21. VALLEY – Low area between mts. 22. HILL – Lower than a mt. – have round tops.
23. SOURCE – The start of a body of water. 24. CORAL REEF – Large area of coral, found in warm SALT water.
Homework • Create a map of a land using 15 of the items we discussed in class today. • Certain items should be named such as: • Mountains • Bays • Peninsulas • Islands • Lakes • Etc.. • List the 15 items you included on the back of your drawing • Map should be in color
