2. Chapter 9 • When they arrive back from the Savage Reservation, Lenina is so shocked and appalled by what she witnessed, she takes 6 grammes of soma and goes on an 18 hours “holiday”. • While she is sleeping, Bernard decides this is a good time to talk to “his fordship” about bringing the savages home with him.

3. Chapter 9 • Bernard talks to Mustapha Mond about the permit needed to bring the savages home – and Mond says he must talk to the Warden. • Bernard visits the Warden and within 10 minutes, all the necessary papers are ready. • Before heading back to Lenina, he takes decides to pamper himself: took a bath, a vibro-vac massage, had an electrolytic shave, listened to the news, looked on the televisor, and ate a leisurely lunch.

4. Chapter 9 • While Bernard enjoys himself, John the Savage goes to find him and Lenina at their rest-house.But when he calls for them, there is no answer. • So, of course, he decides they left him and begin to cry on the steps. • 30 minutes later is occurs to him to lookthrough the window and upon doing so, he sees a Lenina’s suitcase. 5. Chapter 9 • John then takes a stone and breaks into the room and begins to look through Lenina’s suitcase and she sleeps.
