  6. 2013 Overall Results • Trust Fund earned $1,187,065 • Deposited $1,123,379 from the Nez Perce Settlement for mismanagement of trust funds • Total ending value of $11,553,052 • Reduced shortfall from $253,931 in 2012 to $137,906 in 2013

  7. 2013 Overall Results • Completed 2013 Audit with no findings • VTRC earned net revenue of $28,313 • Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall incurred net losses of $43,945 • Loss of income resulting from the failure of the building trusses • Write-off ANB Camp 2 debt

  12. 2013 BIA • BIA Compact • 2012 Direct Expenditures $7,952,617 • 2013 Direct Expenditures $7,203,014 • Variance of $749,603 less direct revenue and $276,753 indirect revenue • Kasaan withdrew from compact • Skagway withdrew from compact • Angoon withdrew from compact • -5.2% Sequestration

  13. Steps to Reduce Deficit • Reduced indirect shortfall on VPSO grant by: • Submitting an administrative rate • Negotiating with the SOA Department of Public Safety • Submitted 2014 Indirect Cost Proposal to eliminate shortfall on the USDA Food grant (approved)

  14. 2014 Proposed Amendments • Reduced General Fund budgets by 4.1% • 2014 national compact budget reduced by 3.2% • Indirect (contract support) fully funded

  15. 2015 Budget • 3.0% COLA Budgeted

  16. 2013 Accomplishments • Completed 2013 with no audit findings • Completed 2013 audit in time to review prior to Tribal Assembly

  17. 2013 Accomplishments • Enrolled in the Federal Employee Health Benefit Plan thereby reducing the tribe’s medical insurance costs by 18% • Reduced sick leave accrual rate by 37.5 hours per year per employee • Replaced the trusses in the Elizabeth Peratrovich Hall

  18. 2013 Accomplishments • Negotiated indirect cost rate agreement with administrative pools for TANF, Head Start, Child Care, and VPSO • Reduced indirect shortfall for the VPSO program • Installed new furnaces in the Hope, Thomas, VTRC, and Douglas Head Start facilities
