Liberian Flag • The eleven stripes stand for the eleven signatories of the Liberian declaration of independence. • The Liberia’s national flag is called “Lone Star”. The eleven horizontal stripes represent the eleven signers of the declaration of independence and the constitution of the Republic of Liberia; the blue field symbolizes the continent of Africa; the five pointed white star depicts Liberia as the first “independent republic” on the continent of Africa; the red color designates “valor”; the white, “purity”; and the blue, “fidelity”. Although these representations are uniquely Liberian, the flag itself is a replica of “Old Glory”, the national flag of the United States.
Malawi • Significance: Black represents the people of the Continent of Africa. • The Rising Sun represents the dawn of hope and freedom for the whole Continent of Africa. • Red represents the blood of the martyrs of African freedom. • Green represents the ever green nature of Malawi.
Mozambique • Green stands for the riches of the land, the white fimbriations signify peace, black represents the African continent, yellow symbolizes the country's minerals, and red represents the struggle for independence. The rifle stands for defence and vigilance, the open book symbolizes the importance of education, the hoe represents the country's agriculture, and the star symbolizes Marxism and internationalism.
Namibia • The main colours were taken from the flag of the South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO), the most important liberation movement in Namibia. That flag was adopted in 1971 and comprises diagonal stripes of blue-red-green, the most important colours of the Ovambos, the largest ethnic group in the country. The gold sun, which is similar to the national emblem of the Republic of China, represents life and energy. • Red - represents Namibia's most important resource, its people. It refers to their heroism and their determination to build a future of equal opportunity for all. • White - refers to peace and unity. • Green - symbolises vegetation and agricultural resources. • Blue - represents the clear Namibian sky and the Atlantic Ocean, the country's precious water resources and rain.[1] • Red, white, and blue were the colours of the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance, and blue, red, and green, the colours of SWAPO.
Ghana • The Ghana Flag was designed by Mrs Theodosia Okoh, a Ghanaian, to replace the flag of the United Kingdom upon attainment of independence in 1957 RED represents the blood of those who died in the country's struggle for independence GOLD represents the mineral wealth of the country GREEN symbolises the country's rich forest and THE BLACK STAR stands for the lodestar of African freedom
Nigeria • The two unique sea-green bands represent the forests and abundant natural wealth of Nigeria while the white band represents peace.
