    2. 2 Why do some children have difficulty learning to read ? Two Broad Possibilities Basic deficits in reading related cognitive abilities. Experiential / Instructional deficits. The failure to make this distinction leads to a wide spread problem: Misdiagnosing Children as “Disabled Readers.”
