Managerial Achievements (1) • Established Core Management Team to strengthen accountability & efficiency of the Joint Programme • Established coordination mechanism with SCAWCO • Developed two-year joint Work Plan 2009-2010 • Updated common webspace for tracking of programmed implementation and financial statutes • Applied successfully for the 4th allotment of DFID funding for UN agencies • Presented Jointly on the Fifth Conference of International Cooperation Programme on AIDS in China • Through UN Cares programme, most agencies have achieved 100 percent staff orientation on HIV. The UN KAB Survey was successfully completed with close to 400 UN staff members participating in the survey.
Managerial Achievements (2) • UNJP managed through strongly-committed & well-functioning Core Management Team (CMT). 80% of CMT members attended each of 9 meetings; • Over 94% of deliverables have been fully or partially achieved by the end 2009; • Regular meetings with SCAWCO held in April, August and November 2009; • Four UN information sharing events were organized in 2009. Each event had a special theme, namely IDUs, treatment, migrant populations and sex work and gender.
Major Program Achievements on Strategic Priority 1 • The Comprehensive Situation Report on Strengthening the Role of Law Enforcement in China’s HIV Response was finalized and submitted to NNCC in October 2009. • Supported the Chinese government’s recent successful application to Global Fund for US$ 500 million consolidated RCC (Rolling Continuation Channel) grant. The programme was launched in Jan. 2010 in Guangxi. • The UA Joint mission was conducted and a report with recommendations on achieving UA targets was presented to Chinese Govt. • A training manual on AIDS Policy Advocacy with Gender Perspectives for the Party School System was developed and printed.
Major Program Achievements on Strategic Priority 2 • Decreased levels of stigma and discrimination against PLHIV among migrant workers through Hometown Fellows Campaign. • Created and broadcasted linguistically and culturally appropriate radio soap-operas for Yi and Wa minorities. • The anti-stigma movement in China gathered significant momentum in 2009. • President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao visited PLHIV and encouraged civil society to become more involved in the AIDS response. • An AIDS Advocacy Event took place in a large train station in Beijing with the support of UN agencies, SCAWCO and the Red Cross. • The Stigma Index Survey and PSA with Yao Ming were launched and disseminated.
Major Program Achievements on Strategic Priority 3 • Developed and disseminated National Second Line Adult and Pediatric ARV treatment guidelines; • More than 80% of reported positive women and children received community based health, PMTCT, and income generation support services in project areas; • Developed 260 core peer educators at project sites supported by the project strengthening the linkage between HIV prevention and SRH services; organized communication entertainment activities more than 30 times, benefitting 900 target groups. 90% entertainment establishments were covered by training programmes delivered by peer educators.
Major Program Achievements on Strategic Priority 4 • Facilitated the CCM election process which was transparent, documented and carried out by NGO/CBOs and PLHIV themselves. • 15 new positive women’s group were established and received training with the support of the project. Work plans were developed by the women themselves and activities conducted to benefit women and children in their community. • Capacity of PLHIV was strengthened on community leadership and CBO working principle through workshops. Positive speakers participated in 554 training sessions/speeches which reached more than 300,000 people directly.Over 30 media agencies reported this project, including CCTV-6, CCTV-9. A collaboration with China Business Radio was launched.
