4 Units of Instruction • Unit 1: Identity – Students explore & write about themselves, The Ben Carson Story • Unit 2: A Sense of Place – Students analyze how setting affects behavior, The Cay • Unit 3: Voices from the Past/ Perspectives – Friedrich, Hans Peter Richter • Unit 4: Imagination –A Midsummer Night’s Dream
During Class Procedures • Have all your materials before bell. • Begin warm-up as soon as possible • Restroom & water breaks will be allowed after first 10 minutes of class. • Leaving the class to go to Guidance or to the Office will only be permitted with a pass that was scheduled in advance.
Maximizing P.A.T. • Every student has to be on time in his/her seat either before or when the bell rings. • Every student has 3 sharpened pencils at the start of class. • Every student respects learning by having a positive or neutral attitude. • Every student honor independent work time by working quietly. • Every student has to respond to the “Quiet Signal” by being in a seat and getting quiet within five seconds of the signal.
Grading & Reporting Classwork/Homework – 10%
