  1. Cervical Cancer Screening for Women in Singapore - Early Diagnosis & Treatment Cervical cancer is a malignant tumor that develops in the cervix, which is the lower part of the uterus. The symptoms of cervical cancer are not obvious, so to detect it early and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the body, women should go for regular screening. In Singapore, cervical cancer screening is one of the few screening tests that are covered by Medisave. This means that every woman who has reached age 21 is eligible for free cervical cancer screening every two years. However, some women might need to go for more frequent testing if they have a higher risk of getting this type of cancer. Women with abnormal Pap smear results should also be tested more frequently than those with normal results.

  2. Cervical cancer screening is done using a Pap smear, which detects abnormal cells that are found in the cervix. These abnormal cells can lead to cervical cancer if they are not treated early. If there are any signs of abnormality during cervical cancer screening, further tests will be performed to determine whether or not the abnormality could lead to cervical cancer. If it does, treatment will be needed immediately. If you have been diagnosed with cervical cancer, your doctor will discuss with you your treatment options and recommend one that is most appropriate for your condition.

  3. As for treatment options in Singapore, there are several treatment options available for cervical cancer. In most cases, a combination of surgery and radiotherapy can be used to treat this type of cancer. If it has spread to other parts of the body however, chemotherapy may be required as well as radiation therapy or surgery in order to prolong life expectancy and improve quality of life as much as possible before death occurs.
