Guest Speaker: Ken Greene CEO, Brugger’s Bagel Bakeries Case due answering the following questions: • If you were Ken Greene, what would your decision tree look like when deciding whether or not to acquire Great Northern? • What value was created for Ken and his management team through the Great Northern acquisition? • What benefit did Rob and Chris Desino gain from the transaction? • Describe one action that you believe Ken Greene should perform after the acquisition to help facilitate the success of Great Northern.
Workshop • Exercises 1 & 2 should be completed. If time permits, questions/observations are welcome. • We will devote class time to be certain that Exercises 3 – 5 are understood. They should be completed by next week.

Assignment for October 19 • Readings: Baron, Chap. 5 Assembling a Team; Chap. 6 Financing New Ventures • Lecture: The Timmons Model of the Entrepreneurial Process Recommended reading: New Venture Creation, Timmons, Chap 3 The Entrepreneurial Process • Case Due: Stegmart (Baron Pg. 378). The report should be individually prepared, typewritten and consist of pro forma income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements for the first three years of the company. The case will be discussed in class. • Workshop: - Exercises 3 -5 should be completed. Questions and comments welcome. - We will devote class time to be certain that Exercise 6 is understood. It is to be handed in next week.
