Few words about Bosnia and Herzegovina • According to the Dayton Peace Agreements from 1995. country is divided in two entities: • Republic of Srpska • Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina • 4,5 million inhabitants (2007 estimate) • Capital: Sarajevo • Other big cities: Banja Luka, Tuzla, Zenica, Mostar • GDP per capita $ 9.473 (PPP) • Population below poverty line: 25% • Unemployment rate: • Statistical 40% • Real 20-25%
Project Work Title: Women Entrepreneurship Supporting Project Acronym:WESP Funds: Progress (2007 - 2012) Decision n°1672/2006/EC of 24 October 2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a Community Programme for Employment and Social Solidarity — PROGRESS. General Idea: creation and support of entrepreneurial potential among women population as a latent source of added economic growth and new job creation
Motivational factors of the Project • Stereotypes in the society (“women are not capable to run business”) • Stereotypes among women population (“I am not capable to run business”) • High unemployment rate for both gender but specially among women population(unemployment rateamong women is 44% and women consist 51% of the population in the BiH) • Economic dependency of women • Low rate of women in the business activities • Informational gap • Technical gap • Lack of knowledge in finding alternative ways for business financing

Project Borders Geographical Borders : Banja Luka region • Banja Luka Region is one of the seven Regions of Republic of Srpska (one of the two entities in BiH) • Its center is the city of Banja Luka, approximately 280.000 inhabitants, the biggest and capital city of the Republic of Srpska as well as the cultural, university and industrial centre • Total area of the region is 8 936 km2. • As said by census of 2005, the population of the Banja Luka Region was 709.000 inhabitants located in 22 municipalities of the region.
Banja Luka region dominates in total participation in the number of small and medium enterprises in the Republic of Srpska. Total number of persons employed in micro, small and medium enterprisesrepresent 45,5% of total number employees in SME’s in the Republic of Srpska Sarajevo Banja Luka City (the blue area is Banja Luka Region)
