  6. WATER SUPPLY OPTIONS • DUG WELL AT SPRING • DUG WELL AT SITE (OPTION SELECTED) • CONNECT TO CITY WATER SUPPLY

  7. Dug wells • CONSTRUCTION FEATURES • CASED WITH WATERTIGHT MATERIAL • WELL COVERED BY CONCRETE CURB AND CAP • MOUNDED LAND SURFACE AROUND WELL TO AVOID PONDING • IDEALLY, PUMP FOR WELL SHOULD BE IN YOUR BUILDING OR IN A SEPARATE PUMP HOUSE

  8. WASTEWATER TREATMENT OPTIONS • SEPTIC SYSTEM • LAGOON SYSTEM • CONNECT TO CITY SEWER

  9. Basis of design leach field

  10. Basis of design120 Day TREATMENT LAGOON

  11. WATER QUALITY TEST RESULTS *BACTERIA TEST IS FOR HYDROGEN SULFATE PRODUCING BACTERIA. HYDROGEN SULFATE PRODUCING BACTERIA ARE POTENTIALLY DISEASE CAUSING

  12. WATER CAPACITY TESTS

  13. CURRENT USE • TOTAL 24 HR USE: • 17 M3 (4,500 GPD) • 41.3 GAL/STUDENT • (109 STUDENTS) • 3.1 GPM • PEAK DAY: • 9,000 GPD • 6 GPM • 8 HR PEAK USE: • 19 GPM • 4 HOUR PEAK USE: • 37.5 GPM

  14. WATER SYSTEM PLANNING FACTORS • TOTAL STUDENTS: 350 • SCHOOL USAGE : 10 TO 15 GPM • HOUSES: 2 • HOUSE USAGE: 267 GPD • WELL DEPTH = 110 M • HOSE BIB USE (SCHOOL): • 2 BIBS X 2 HRS X 5 GPM = 1200 GPD • HOSE BIB USE (HOUSES): • 1 BIB X 2 HOUSES X 5GPM = 1200 GPD

  15. WATER SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  16. PUMP RECOMMENDATION • RECOMMENDED PUMP: • POWER: 7.5 HP • FLOW RANGE: 20 TO 80 GPM • GOULD MODEL 55GS75CBM OR EQUIVALENT HEAD COMPUTATION • TOTAL LIFT IN WELL: 110 M/361 FT • PUMPING LIFT: 3.2 M/10.5 FT • STATIC DISCHARGE PRESSURE: 40 PSI/17.3 FT • FRICTION LOSSES: 5%/19.5 FT • TOTAL REQUIRED HEAD: 408 FT

  17. WATER STORAGE REQUIREMENTS

  18. WASTEWATER • PERC TEST RESULTS: 7.5 TO 25 MIN/INCH • SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: 1.2 TO 1.5 LF/GPD • LATERAL FIELD REQUIRED: • LENGTH: 13,745 LF/4,229 M • AREA: 151,195 SF/14,046 M2 • AREA AVAILABLE: • OUTSIDE WALL: 734 M2 • INSIDE WALL: 604 M2 • TOTAL: 1,338 M2

  19. WATER/WASTEWATER SUMMARY • AREA AVAILABLE IS NOT LARGE ENOUGH TO ACCOMMODATE REQUIRED LEACH FIELD • RECOMMEND CONNECTING WASTEWATER DISCHARGE TO EXISTING MUNICIPAL COLLECTION LINE • IF WELL WILL PRODUCE AT LEAST 41 GPM, INSTALL A PRESSURIZED WATER SYSTEM USING A 7.5 HP PUMP. • IF WELL PRODUCES LESS THAN 41 GPM, INSTALL AN OPEN SYSTEM WITH A STORAGE TANK.
