Imja Tse is the 68th-highest mountain in Nepal (6,189 m). Being a close neighbour to highest trekking Mt.Mera, it is more technical & often challenging than Mera. Also known for Alias called ”Imja Tse", Island Peak” appears as an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. Island peak is among the trekking peak of Nepal, with its standard climbing route having the Alpine PD+ difficulty level.

History As a part of training exercise, the southwest summit of Imja Tse was climbed in 1953 by british expedition The expedition team included: Tenzing Norgay, Charles Evans, Alfred Gregory, Charles Wylie and seven other Sherpas. In 1956 first main summit was achieved by Swiss team- Hans-Rudolf Von Gunten and two unknown Sherpas Island peak has a difficulty rating of Alpine PD+. Island peak was named island by Eric Shipton's party in 1953, as the peak, resembles an island in a sea of ice when viewed from Dingboche. In 1983, the peak was renamed as Imja Tse.
