  1. The Brain The Fourth Group with the cooperation of the 2nd & 3rd groups

  2. The Brain Introduction This presentation conclude the work of the second and the third groups in their way to find answers about different issues concerning the brain;{ the main points of the nutritionist meeting and the research paper's group (How to increase your brain power) }and practices through the activities and assignments of the unit “Brain Power".

  3. The Brain The Contents: • Brain Food • Increase Your Brain Power • Memory & Problem-Solving exercises & techniques • Riddles & Puzzles

  4. Brain Food The new researches reveals a link between poor diet and mental ill health

  5. Reasons behind mental health problems Mental health problems are believed to be the result of a combination of factors, including age, genetics and environmental factors. One of the most obvious, yet under-recognized factors in the development of major trends in mental health is the role of nutrition.

  6. A poll’s (by MHF) results A poll carried out by the Mental Health Foundation found that:•People who eat healthy food, including fresh vegetables, fruit or fruit juice and meals made from scratch, and don't eat more takeaways and ready meals, do not have daily mental health problems, • Younger people are more likely than older people to experience daily mental health problems.

  7. Food’s effect on the mental health Food can have an immediate and lasting effect upon a person’s mental health and behavior because of the way they affect the structure and function of the brain. While most people are aware of how diet affects their physical health, fewer understand that the brain, as an organ, is affected by the foods they eat, and how this has a knock on effect on their mental health.

  8. Good food… Bad food… While some foods damage the brain by releasing toxins or oxidants that harm healthy brain cells, there are many more nutrients that serve the brain without deception or damage, which can improve mood and mental wellbeing. People must have nutritional deficiencies in their diet, they must be given omega-3 fatty acids, multivitamins and mineral supplements. Those with poor diets are advised to reduce their intake of saturated fat and sugar. Young people must eat a balanced diet, to reduce the need for supplements and follow an exercise program.

  9. The benefits of brain diet Growing evidence indicates the benefits of dietary interventions to support a person’s recovery from mental health problems. But financial investment is now needed to further this understanding and develop appropriate interventions to help people manage mental health problems including depression, dementia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and schizophrenia.

  10. increase your brain power

  11. Breath To Increase IQ Breath deep. This is one of the easiest and most effective ways to improve the functioning of your brain immediately. By breathing deeply we relax and put more oxygen in the blood (therefore in the brain), both of which help. Relaxation has been proven to improve brain function. Low oxygen levels in the blood have been shown to decrease it. Since most of us are in the habit of breathing too shallowly, this is a quick way to increase IQ. By the way, if you breath through your nose, you are more likely to breath deeply

  12. Breath To Increase IQ Meditating also helps, primarily because of the deep breathing aspect. The state of mind achieved through a simple breath-watching meditation allows true relaxation, and is conducive to creative problem solving. Just close your eyes and breath through your nose, deeply at first, then in whatever way is comfortable. As thoughts arise, dismiss them and return your attention to your breath. Do this for at least a few minutes.

  13. Move Your Body To Increase IQ Sit up straight, and close your mouth. Good posture affects our state of mind, and helps us to think more clearly. Try an experiment to prove this to yourself. Do math problems in your head; first while slouching, with your mouth open; then while sitting up straight with your lips together. You'll get the point.

  14. Move Your Body To Increase IQ Exercise a little. Physical activity-just enough to get the blood pumping-can "wake up" your brain enough to help you think better. Walking seems to work best, but any aerobic activity can help increase your IQ.

  15. Move Your Body To Increase IQ Sleep well. You knew this one, right? Just remember, the evidence shows us that the quality of sleep is very important, not just the quantity.

  16. What You Eat Can Increase Or Decrease Your IQ Consume ginkgo biloba. Whether in capsules or tea or off a neighbors tree, ginkgo leaves have been shown to increase blood flow to the brain, helping memory and concentration. The effect is quick, and doesn't seem to diminish with regular use.

  17. What You Eat Can Increase Or Decrease Your IQ Drink coffee. Everything from test scores on college exams to chess games have been shown to improve after a cup of coffee or other drink containing caffeine. It is a temporary effect, however, and caffeine may have adverse long-term effects for regular users.

  18. What You Eat Can Increase Or Decrease Your IQ Avoid Sugar. Actually any simple carbohydrates taken in large quantities can give you that sluggish feeling that makes it difficult to think. This is due to the insulin that is dumped into your veins after the sugar is. Don't eat white flour, sugar, potatoes, and other carbs before an important meeting, or anytime you need full use of your intelligence.

  19. A Quick Memory Exercise And Technique & Problem-solving technique

  20. A Memory Exercise Memory exercises increase brain power because in your conscious mind you can only work with what you can remember. Intelligence without memory is like a builder without tools. What could he build? A good memory exercise involve telling yourself why you want to remember something, and how you will remember it. If you just learned a person's name, think about how that person will be important to you in the future, where you are likely to see them next, and anything you notice about them. Clearly seeing the importance of remembering will motivate the brain to retain the name, and the additional associations in the brain (where you expect to see the person next, for example) fix the name even more firmly in your memory.

  21. A Mnemonic Technique One memory technique you can learn and use right now starts with a walk around the house. Pick ten locations or permanent objects in your home or office. Memorize these in some logical order (this is the hardest part). Now when you want to remember a list of things, associate each item on the list with one of your ten locations or objects. Do this with mental imagery and even sounds, always in a ridiculous way. When you need to consult your list, you'll simply walk around your home in your mind, and you will "see" the items on the list

  22. Problem-Solving Technique Would you like a few good problem-solving techniques that will increase your brain power? Do you ever run out of good ideas, or go around in circles trying to come up with a solution for a simple problem? Find one or two of the problem-solving techniques below that you like, and get in the habit of using them. THEN:-------

  23. Systematic problem-solving technique • Challenge your assumptions • Break big problems down into smaller ones • Ask three people for their opinions and/or advice • Write down the problem • Change your perspective

  24. Riddles & puzzles

  25. {1} A man was to be sentenced, and the judge told him, "You may make a statement. If it is true, I'll sentence you to four years in prison. If it is false, I'll sentence you to six years in prison." After the man made his statement, the judge decided to let him go free. What did the man say? Answer 1 {2} You have a barrel of oil, and you need to measure out just one gallon. How do you do this if you only have a three-gallon container and a five-gallon container? Answer 2

  26. What row of numbers comes next in this series? 11121121111122131221113112221 Answer

  27. ANSWER 1 He said, "You'll sentence me to six years in prison." If it was true, then the judge would have to make it false by sentencing him to four years. If it was false, then he would have to give him six years, which would make it true. Rather than contradict his own word, the judge set the man free.

  28. ANSWER 2 Fill the 3-gallon container with oil and pour it into the 5-gallon container. Then fill the 3-gallon container again and use it to fill the 5-gallon container the rest of the way. One gallon will be left in the 3-gallon container.

  29. ANSWER 1113213211 After the first line, each line describes the previous line: One OneTwo OnesOne Two, One One(and so on...)
