These are ventures or gambles that do not involve hard work or contribute to the common wealth, and are any get-rich-quick scheme, Prov 21:5-6.
Prov 21:5-6, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to advantage, but everyone who is hasty comes surely to poverty. 6The acquisition of treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor, the pursuit of death.”
This believer “lacks heart” - CHASER LEB. They lack the wisdom or insight of Bible Doctrine in the right lobe of their soul.
Prov 28:19,“He who tills his land will have plenty of food, but he who follows empty pursuits will have poverty in plenty.”
Prov 12:12Contrasts in business gains by evil activities versus righteous ones.
“Booty”MATSOD, מָצוֹד, = net. The evil man pursues the lusts of his flesh utilizing tactics and schemes that are evil, sinful, full of human good and in line with Satan’s cosmic system.
The Contrast! The righteous business man, desires to give back to others as a result of his business dealings.
“Root” - SHORESH, שֹׁרֶשׁ, Cf. vs. 3A solid or firm foundation for generations to come.
The righteous have a firm foundation, standing and relying on God’s Word in their business transactions.
