  2. All children deserve to have access to proper nutrition and quality healthcare. But many children suffer from child abuse in India where they are deprived of a healthy childhood. It is important to ensure that no child suffers from malnutrition or poor health, irrespective of their socio-economic background. After all, recurring diseases and stunted growth are serious issues that may occur due to a lack of adequate nutrition, timely immunizations, and proper healthcare. In some extreme cases, it can take someone's life too. 2 of 3 child deaths, below the age of 5, are caused by malnutrition in India (UNICEF 2019 and ICMR 2019). This is why a preventative and responsive approach can help make a difference in India’s infant mortality rate (IMR), the child mortality rate (CMR), and the maternal mortality rate (MMR).

  3. Every child has immense potential to grow up and become a country leader, working professional, social worker, inventor etc. To help increase their chances of a productive future, children need to have safer and more wholesome childhoods through physical, mental, and cognitive development. But as per the National Family Health Survey (NFHS) 2015–16, 59% of children under 5 years of age are anaemic while 36% of the children under 5 years of age are underweight.   Another important reason behind undernourishment is the ill health of pregnant women who do not have access to a good diet and healthy environment. Proper and timely care is a must for lactating mothers to ensure the child’s healthy development. Quality prenatal care reduces the risk of pregnancy complications and helps in healthy live births while regular postnatal check-ups protect the new mother and her infant.   CRY addresses the issue of poverty in India by helping the parents of newborns in many regional belts. CRY ensures marginalized families have access to medical care, awareness sessions, and follow-up healthcare services. Donate money online to CRY to contribute to such impactful programs. In 2020-21, 86% of children in CRY project areas, under the age of 5 years, were prevented from malnutrition. The malnutrition prevention rate is 14%-27% better than the prevailing average in similar areas where CRY is not present. Generously support CRY to help India’s most vulnerable children survive in a post-COVID world. 0 Comments
